.ng : The most expensive second level domains in the world?

According to the Nigerian publication Next, Nigeria charges one of the highest fees for second level domains in the world. Microsoft has already registered , Google has registered , and and and a Nigerian firm has registered some 8 domains. The costs are anywhere from $20,000-50,000.

I think Nigeria's SLD will prove to be quite popular in the long run especially with so many English words ending in .ng. We might be in for another success like Libya's .ly domains. My two cents.
