In the domain industry, Rwanda is more known for its six year struggle for the redelegation of .RW ccTLD Domain names from the French company DNSAfrica. In fact, Rwanda's poorer and conflict-prone neighbour Burundi does an excellent job in managing its ccTLD resources and its domain name industry than Rwanda, a country that has been making great strides in technology in the recent years. Is it all hype? The Web hosting business in Rwanda is dominated by one registrar, Kaneza.com owned by Innocent Kaneza which hosts 201 domains in the gTLD space(.com .net .org .info) and controls 81.7073 % of the Central African Domain name market. This is a virtual monopoly and does not bode well for the future of the country's domain name industry. In the domain business, competition breeds innovation, intense competition breeds intense innovation in marketing and product differentiation.
