A case that was filed at WIPO by the South African media giant Naspers, through its MIH Holdings subsidiary, for the domain SuperSportImages.com has been terminated. SuperSport is a wholly owned subsidiary of MIH Group. Supersport International Holdings Limited consists of various organizations and sports teams and is better known in Africa for sports streaming and commentary.
Someone at MIH Group clearly believed that the Australian company behind supersportimages.com, Supersport Images Australia Pty, was infringing on MIH Group's rights over the mark "supersport". The Australian user,with over 15 years experience in photographing sports events in Australia, appears to be employing the domain for very legitimate uses and no bad faith has been shown in the use of the domain. The case was terminated a few days ago, no reasons have been given.
