The Tunisian Internet Agency, ATI, offers free domain names in the .or.tn namespace and free hosting to all Tunisian Nonprofits with an aim of ensuring community participation and the creation of more Tunisian content on the worldwide web...a strategy that I think, other African ccTLDs should emulate.
The Tunisian namespace has been undergoing massive reforms for the last two years that have been aimed at introducing competition amongst the registrars. The liberalization of the .tn namespace has also put a ceiling of $20 per year inclusive of taxes on the price of domain names to make the names affordable and get more Tunisians to acquire domain names. The Tunisian Internet Agency is a good example of a registry that's getting things right in the management of the ccTLDs in Africa.
