Register .CO.BW Botswana Domain Names

Botswana is one of the more prosperous nations in Africa with a high per capita income. The .BW domain names have been administered by Botswana Telecommunications Corporation since 1996 and is operating fine, though not quite as advanced as the ccTLDs for Kenya and South Africa.

At the time of the initial submission of the Domain Name request, the Applicant is required to have operational name service from at least two operational Internet servers for that domainname. Each server must be fully connected to the Internet and capable of receiving queriesunder that Domain Name and responding thereto. In the event that Applicant does not make regular use of its assigned Domain Name for any a period of 90 days or more, Applicant agrees that Applicant shall, upon request of BTC, relinquish that Domain Name to BTC. .BW recently added a new nameserver to the records of its own servers: bw.auth-servers.net resolves to 75.102.1.178 which reverse-IP in turn resolves to homer.kumari.net. Unlike the other, non-BTC name servers below, bw.auth-servers.net has NS records for .BW, .CO.BW and .AC.BW domains. It also reports the Name Servers for GOV.BW. Although this is a well-intentioned move by BTC it will only provide redundancy for their own users if they hard-code the address or if BTC publishes it by DHCP to their ADSL customers.
