ICANN 43 Costa Rica Sponsors: The Usual Suspects Plus .SX Registry

Got curious as to who  will be sponsoring the ICANN 43 meeting in Costa Rica in March; the list so far consists of the usual suspects : CoreNIC, CNNIC, Iron Mountain, Siter Domain Dialing, Afilias and the new kid on the block .SX registry.

.SX is the ccTLD for Sint Maarten which was approved by the ICANN Board in December last year. It uses OpenRegistry SA(of the .eu and .be) as its registry backend services provider/technical partner.  Sint Maarten is the Dutch speaking part of Saint Maarten which is an English Speaking French/Dutch Island in the Carribean with a combined population of just about 75,000. Sounds confusing? Visit Wikipedia.

Sint Maarten is one of the four constituent territories that are part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and its population is about 39,000. Apparently with no surprise, .SX is an open ccTLD namespace and no local presence is required to register .sx domain names.
